This Cup arrived in many pieces and it had some previous old repairs which had to be dismantled first, cleaned ready for re gluing. It was of great sentimental value to the client.
Having been used in its broken state for years as a pen holder, it had a thick layer of solidified ink in the bottom, not shown in these pictures.
The pieces were cleaned and after working out the order in which they had to be adhered, the gradual process of gluing could begin.
The cup was gradually taped together and re-glued over a period of time using a slow setting two part Epoxy. The chips and cracks were colour filled to minimise the amount of over painting required. Airbrushing was used also to blend in the repaired area's with dry pigments mixed in Cold Glaze.
Finally it was glazed and polished with micromesh to an invisible repair.
